Hi All, Not sure what the etiquette is for this but I noticed today that there are two female ferrets with cage for sale on Kijiji today in the St. John's, NL area. While I'd love to adopt them myself I don't think I can convince the partner to go for it (I just go on the pets section to toture myself ) Thought I'd mention it in case there was anyone in the area who knew about ferrets and is intereted in adopting two. Cheers, Jennifer

So the ferrets on kijiji.ca are no longer available...we decided to expand our family and purchased them after playing with them for a while. They are two beautiful girls and so far they get along really well with Rupert and Jacob. Of course we're supervising thier time together for a few weeks but so far so good. I'll keep everyone updated and post some pictures later on.
Cheers, Jen

Looking forward to seeing pics of your new girls I seen one on Kijiji a while back, they said he lived off of raw egs and hotdogs..wth?? It was overpriced and you could get a baby even cheaper at a pet shop, I nearly got him just so he could go on a proper diet..and plus Loki wouldn't feel outnumbered by the girls lol, but hubby said "no more!!" so I had to scrap that idea, Don't think Ill be getting anymore anyways, they are a joy to have, but a lot of work, I already have to clean the cage once a day and then some and mine are mostly free roamers, I could just imagine what it would be like with four. I would like to have another but I have other animals too, Im just not ready.

It is a lot of work that's for sure but we make sure to split the duties. We usually clean fully twice a day and then if there is a big mess anywhere we deal with it. We've just put a lot of litterboxes around and we use newspaper with the litter so we can just bundle the whole bunch up. It's so cute to see them all running around together.
So far everyone is getting along great. When we first got them we were a bit nervous that the boys might be too rough but boy were we wrong. Rupert and Jacob were great and so were the girls. They are named Delilah and Cujo although they might change. Delilah is definitly the leader and of all of them she's the only one who is being a bit aggressive. It's not too bad but we'll definitly be keeping an eye on them and having them in seperate cages for a few more weeks. Cujo and Jacob seem like they're in love and they're already curling up together when they're out. It's very cute.
The girls came with a ton of toys and a great ferret nation cage so the boys are having a lot of fun exploring that and vice versa. I'll upload some pics when I get any. Have a great day everyone! Jen

Hi Jen Love there names, Delilah was one of the names I was considering when I named Pandora, Its a beautiful name, and Cujo is really cute for a ferret, makes her sound tough but I love it I love ferret nation cages, that is what I use for mine, I have had it since last August and only recently discovered that the floor and level comes out making it a lot easier to clean. How is Delilah doing no with the aggression?? YOu know, when i first got Loki he had some aggression issues, The pet shop even warned me against buying him because of it, I didn't care, I knew if he had a good home and learned to trust he would become a good boy with a little training, and I couldn't have been more right, now he is one of the sweetest and smartest ferrets you could meet, he still has a little bit of a temper, but nothing serious, now when we hold him to our faces he gives kisses and no longer clamps on to our noses drawing blood, I think your Delilah just needs a little time to adapt. As long as you are watching her closely with the other ferrets I think she will adjust and they will all become the best of friends, Either way I really hope it works out for you and i am looking forward to hearing about them. Oh, i forgot to ask, what color are they??

Those ferrets! Delilah and pandora! I was actually going to adopt them but she didn't want them travelling across the province. I'm looking to adopt a ferret or two.. But no one wants them to be travelling here.

Hi Lindsey, Don't get too discouraged yet. When we were looking for our first ferrets there were always some on kijiji or nlclassifieds out around the west coast and in central. You'll find some soon! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!! Jen

PS I am working on putting up some pictures it's just that my camera is having a hissy fit lately so I'm waiting for a new memory card. They are all doing really well. Started sleeping together now when they get tired from running around all day. We still keep them in seperate cages during the night just to be safe but we'll soon start putting them in the one cage for a couple of hours every day and see how it goes. I'm so happy we decided to get the girls!

Congratulations on your new babies!
I haven't been on here lately because we've gotten three new ferrets in that I am currently fostering.
Two will be available soon for adoption. One is still convalescing from major surgery.
At this stage we don't have a way to transport them to NL but if any of you folks ever venture to NS/NB/PEI or have friends travelling this way and returning to NL - we can arrange an adoption for you.
I haven't posted them yet on our website but will be doing that soon. One is under a year old the other just turned two. Both females with beautiful, gentle temperaments.

I love Kijiji.ca I know there are a lot of people who would disagree with rehoming animals but I got my last 2 ferrets Ernie and Bill from kijiji, so although I am sad they had to be rehomed I am glad I found them! I also have gotten cages and lots of other stuff.

Hi, Welcome to our message board! As with anything - there are good people and not-so-good people who sell things on kijiji. The problem is that there are people who will sell sick or very old ferrets on kijiji and NOT tell the unsuspecting people buying them. Rehoming is not the same as selling. Someone who genuinely can't look after their ferrets and cares about them is not as concerned with making a buck as much as they are with finding a good home for their ferrets. Rehoming in itself is not a bad thing if done with the ferrets' needs in mind. Its when people "get rid" of their ferrets for things like: they have grown tired of them, find they are too much work, can't afford the veterinary expenses, have a baby and dump the ferrets, get a new boyfriend or girlfriend who doesn't like ferrets, etc. that it becomes an issue for ferret lovers. Its great you found your fuzzkids on kijiji and vice versa. It sounds like they lucked out with a caring and loving human parent and found their 'forever' home . Tressie

Okay, if this person plans on having a ferret..why not just buy food beforehand instead of expecting someone to provide it with the ferret..already I would say that is a bad sign. Does this person not realize that rabbits are being given away for free all the time on Kijiji and she expects someone to trade a ferret which normally run about 200 for a trade?? wtf??? I hope and pray nobody is stupid enough to put their ferret in a situation where it may someday be traded for a chinchilla, hedgehog or the next flavor of the month. Trading one animal for another is sickening, we do not trade or children for other children so why should we do it with our pets?? Iwouldn't trade any of my pets for anything..EVER!!! Anyone who would shouldn't even have pets in the first place. Thank you for sharing this, I feel like sending her a e-mail and blasting her but I think Ill bite my tongue, im sure with a ad like that she probably got enough of those e-mails. Poor bunny
