There was a program on Nfld TV not long ago about this. People use the beagles for hunting and once the season is over get rid of them. The animals are often not well treated and in poor condition.

There was a program on Nfld TV not long ago about this. People use the beagles for hunting and once the season is over get rid of them. The animals are often not well treated and in poor condition. It is very similar with greyhounds, the are raised only to know a life of racing and nothing else, when they are nolonger good on the track, they would be euthanized, Now we have Greyhound rescue societies who take in these death row greyhounds and rehabilitate them and make them adoptable. They travel from place to place finding homes for them, They were in my area not too long ago because I seen the flyer for it on the bulletin board in the drugstore. It is really sad with the greyhounds because i watched a documentary about them years ago and these greyhounds(adults mind you) even had to be taught how to climb stairs, they knew absolutely nothing about life outside the track. I would of loved to adopt one, they are very gentle and friendly creatures, but have a very high prey drive so it wouldn't be wise for me to have one with my other critters I have here. If I had no other animals I definitely would of taken one in.
