Hey there everyone, I need help,
I took on two ferrets to help out someone in need they were going to be evicted if they didn't find a place for their ferrets. I have Slinky a healthy 6 year old and a 1 year old deaf Albino
These ferrets are a bonded pair however, I have been finding it difficult to give them proper care based on their needs. I have since found out Lucy the albino is absolutely deaf; she does have the deaf ferret triggers and needs special training and extra time. At this time, I have found Lucy to be more ferret then I can personally handle with the kids. As it stands Lucy is just not a good fit here.
Though she is so much better then she once was, she still nips hard when playing enough to bruise and leave marks. Also when anyone is trying to clean the litter or any other repetitive motion in her cage or even just near her she feels the 'need' to nip, all she wants is to play she just doesn't understand.
I have two children 4 and 6 years old, they are frightened to go near her, or the cage and they panic when I take the ferrets out. So I can only get them out for a little bit after the kids are to bed.
However but that's my clean time and the meal prep time for the next day.
It's not fair to these two ferrets to keep them penned up and Lucy Needs more consistent training then I can give her. Slinky is an old guy who's laid back and awesome but in the next few years though he's healthy now he is getting on in years.
If someone could adopt or foster them they and I would be grateful. The previous owners have relinquished ownership.
I have attempted to email FLSAC via the contact us webpage and call the numbers but I didn't leave voice mails.
