All the ferrets for sale on the island are refused to transport from st. john's to the west coast. I refuse to buy a ferret from a pet store here because they're very sick looking. I gave up on trying to buy ferrets from people who can't care for them anymore.  |

I think if someone is looking for a ferret or to add to their ferret family this youngster would be a good buy. He's only 6 mths. old. It may be that these particular people might be prepared to transport a ferret at least part of the way. One never knows until you ask.
We generally compromise on a transport meeting half-way or some such arrangement.
I flew all the way to Boston from Halifax, then drove 2 1/2 hours to the MaFF shelter south of Boston three times to pick up ferrets before there were any rescues available here.
This past weekend a couple from Parsons Pond, NL who had been waiting since January for a pair of ferrets from the Ottawa rescue got their pair. The husband picked them up in Ottawa and drove them home to NL.
So a lot does depend on how badly someone wants a ferret to go out of their way to get one.
If you still want one, I wouldn't assume you can't find a way to get it. These people may be willing to meet you half-way. They may even have friends or family out your way.
Worth a try - worst that will happen is that they'll say "no can do."

Thats a sin for the ferret..
they got him/her and seen a cute puppy and now dont want him/her anymore...
Pets are a life time camitment.. not just a cute face for a few days..
i hope his little one gets a good home and wont be passed around to much..

So true Christina ! Most people buy/adopt a ferret (or/and other pets) just because they are cute, especialy when they are babies. At the very moment they find out that cute puppy is meant to be a big boy, or that ferret need to be socialized and take alot of time in your life or if they find out that their cute kitty can live around 20 years - its over ! They put him/her back on the shelters People should really READ BEFORE getting a pet to make sure they are ready for this long-term comitment. I went to a local pet store and found out a family that just droped by their 2 yearls old female cat because they wanted a new kitty !? This cat is so scared right now .. I wish I could do more for those pets |

Same.. I love animals so much that i have started to dislike people...
i no that sounds strange but i would rather have a person be hert then a animal most of the time..

Ive tried emailing the person whos selling the ferret , I havent gotten an asnwer tho ! Im looking to add 1 or 2 ferrets to my family !  I had them when I was a child .. Snoopy and Nute  And Now that I have my own family I wouldnt think of getting us anything else then a pair of ferrets !! If anyone knows of any for sale in St Johns area please let me know !! Thanks so much ! I don't know what it is with Kijiji, but I rarely have anyone get back to me when I reply to a ad. I buy a lot of stuff from that site but whenever I reply to any ad, there is like a 20% chance of someone writing or calling me back, Maybe they get a high volume of reply's?? I don't know, but I wish you the best of luck in finding your ferrets. There is a FB group for Newfoundland ferret lovers that Christina started, maybe you could join that and perhaps someone there can point you in the direction of finding one |
