I have 3 ferrets that I've had for 3years now and their my little cuddle bugs. My problem is my 12yr old son recently got diagnosed with Chrones and is now on weekly methotrexate injections which greatly lower his immune response to things making him susceptible to illnesses. His specialist suggested that the ferrets aren't the best pet to have because of their ability to transmit bacteria (if they walked in their own poop and spread it on something else etc..).. I love the ferrets so much but I obviously don't want to put my son's health at risk. Anyone have any imput on the actual risk? I clean their cage twice a day and have minimized the rooms their allowed in to..

Hi,
sorry for the late reply. I think you have been answered on our Facebook page though ? My mom also has chrones and no .. animals do not pose a health risk problems. Again, human doctors know little to nothing about animals. I wouldn't expose him to litter and what not .. but having ferrets in your house shouldn't change anything.
