Hi there!
I am interested in getting a young ferret but I am iffy about buying one from a pet store. Last time I went to a pet store the ferrets were overweight with broken whiskers and not kept in a very nice environment, and they were living like that for almost two years. I was wondering if you guys know of any ferret breeders in New Brunswick? I haven't ever heard of any but I thought it was worth a shot to come here. I'd also be interested in adoption if there are any young ferrets being fostered, preferably two years or younger.
Any suggestions is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there, It's illegal in Canada to have an intact ferret unless you have a breeder license. Because of that reason, the only known breeder in Canada are Real Canadian ferret farm (They have an ''I'' or ''H'' tattoo in hear, and they are often BIG ferret. Males are between 4-6 lbs!). Because most (to not say all) ferret in Canada are farm ferrets, they are already neutered/spayed and descended. There is no ferret breeders in NB or maritime provinces. It's the reason you ave never heard of any - there's no breeders in Canada except for Real Canadian (RC) ferret farm. Then you have the other ferret farms in the states, such as Marshall (2 dots tattoo in hear), Path Valley, and so on.
Your best bet to not buy from a pet store is to have one from a rescue or on kijiji.
