I'm a volunteer at the Greater Moncton SPCA and while I was looking at the kittens today, I found a ferret ! Yes, there's a Marshall Albino female ferret up for adoption at the Greater Moncton SPCA. We (my boyfriend and I) played with her and let me tell you she's a doll ! She does seem to have a mass cell tumor or something on her neck. She's very friendly and she loves to play. She would also need dental care as her molars are very gross ! I hope she gets adopted by a ferret knowledgeable owner ! She's only 1 year old ! Please contact the Greater Moncton SPCA if you are interested to adopt her !

Hmmm.... I wonder whether this is the same ferret that was mentioned in the earlier post on March 15th in the Moncton Kijiji??
Have you notified FLSAC?

my partner and I are thinking about adopting her, I volunteer @ the spca too and walk dogs, I saw her today and let me just say she is a DARRRRLING. The adoption fees are only 50$ which isnt a problem for me, its the vet costs. Currently Im treating my albino for adrenal disease which costs about 70$ per month. I am gonna sleep on the idea tonight, I know if she would be with us she would be in a great home.

There is a better and more cost effective alternative to monthly Lupron Depot injections for adrenal disease. Deslorelin implants last 8 - 24 months. In my experience with 12 ferrets who have received the implant, on average, they last 14 months before you have to get another implant. At Fairview Animal Hospital in Halifax, NS - the cost is $150.00 which includes office visit, sedation and the implant. Well worth the trip to Halifax if no one in your area carries them. www.fairviewanimalhospital.com/Tressie

Who is your vet, Nicole ? Is it Dr.Drmac ? If so, he can't order the implants for you ?

150$ sounds pretty great compared to a 70$ per month injection. Yes, I did ask Dr Drmac here in Riverview and he was against it for some reason or another. I cant remember the reason... but the lupron seems to work. I am getting Zander's injection tomorow afternoon and then after that it will be every 3 months instead of every month

Hmmmm.... not sure what his reasons might have been??
In any event you do have the option to take your ferret to Halifax to Fairview Animal Hospital if you want to try the Deslorelin. Call ahead of course for an appointment to make certain they have some in.
Lupron Depot of course does work very effectively. Its just that the Deslorelin is considerably less expensive and appears to work better.
And the one-month Lupron Depot is easier to manage than the three-month. For example, if the dose needs to be adjusted.
Don't know if Zander is a male or female, but if male the monthly dose for Lupron Depot is recommended at a minimum of 200mcg. Vets who don't treat a lot of ferrets often give 100mcg to both males and females but males should be started at 200mcg according to the experts in the field. That is the vets who see thousands of ferrets not dozens; )

I guess the poor girl is looking for a new home, AGAIN The following was posted on the Ferret Lovers Society of Atlantic Canada Facebook group by Ashley, FLSAC chair : Ashley Stafford "Hey Everyone, One of my customers contacted me recently and said she has a ferret she's looking for a new home for her. She recently got the ferret from the SPCA. She believes she is at least 4 years old, and likely has some health issues. She is willing to keep the ferret, and give her the proper health care, but wanted me to put the word out incase someone was interested in her. She had got her as a companion for her current ferret and she appears to HATE other animals, as she attacks them. So she is hoping to find someone who would be willing to give her a loving home without other animals. So if anyone is interested, let me know".
