Excellent chart Aletha! Thank you for posting the link. I would ask Ashley to change the link on the website from the one that's there for the food chart to this one! Tressie

Hmm, guess when we run out of our mixture I'll have to try a substitute for the Totally Ferret, I see that it is in the red section, but at least they are getting the Evo. Does anyone out there use the Orijin? I know that Global Pets in Moncton and Dieppe carries it, and should I start mixing that in now so as not to shock their systems?

I use a mix of EVO Ferret Food and Orijen Kitten/Cat food. I also feed my cat on Orijen, and he also loves it.
My pets have soft fur, and they are super active. Even my cat, which is already 5 years old, still plays like a kitten of 5 months ! lol

Any new food should be introduced gradually so starting now would be a good idea. Also, if possible, it is best to feed a mixture just in case you aren't able to get one kind or the formula is changed.

Yes, I agree ! @ Kate, since you live in the Greater Moncton area, just to let you know that Global Pet Foods in Dieppe has EVO Ferret food, Orijen kitten/cat food and Go! Natural grain free .. They are all great foods for your ferrets. I personaly buy EVO Ferret Food and Orijen. Johnny's Duck Soup is actually a jar of chicken baby food and a can of Go! Natural grain free cat food. He loves it ! My cat loves Orijen and Go! aswell .. Don't know where you used to buy your ferrets' food, but just to let you know, Global Pet Foods stores do have a free food program. For example, after 12 bags of Orijen, you get a free bag !

Thanks for the advice guys! I already get my EVO at Global Pets and I will be going to get a bag of the Orijen I think. I have one ferret that is really picky (Odo) when we first got him his previous owner was feeding him Marshall diet and we had a really hard time getting him to switch, I mixed it in with the other foods and he kept picking the Marshall out and eating only that, he is now eating the Evo and Totally Ferret, and I can't get him to even touch "duck soup" but my other guy (sisko) will eat anything you put in front of him.

Is it worth it to switch Odo's food again where he is a picky eater? Yes, Totally Ferret has grain but it is far superior to Marshall. I don't know what proportions you are using but you could try a 3/4 EVO to 1/4 TF if he doesn't accept the Orijen. Grain free is considered ideal these days but there are times when one has to compromise.

what i do is i have plastic containers that i pre mix the food in and i mix together a bag of EVO and a bag of TF, the bag of EVO is 6.6 lbs and the TF is 4 lbs so there is more EVO than there is TF.

Yes, this is a great food refernece! I have my kids on a great mix, but now that I have an insulinoma girl I need to step it up even more. Looking at adding one of the "tippy top" foods, like Orijen. I'm hesitating because my dog didn't do all that well on Orijen; it was just too rich and his GI couldn't handle it! I'm sure the ferts would do much better on it. Can't find EVO, would have to order it. Also, I tried to get my hands on Epigen last year but the company told me they would not be able to ship to Canada.

Ferrets are strick carnivores. A great way to manage insulinoma is to give them alot of meat protein. Most people will give them a daily Duck Soup.
My ferrets eat a mix of EVO ferret food and Orijen kitten food. They are fully healthy and very soft. Even when Demon got lymphoma, his blood test showed us that - exept for his white blood cells - he was perfeclty healthy. They also love Orijen. If you live in the greater Moncton area, you can buy EVO at Global Pet Foods in Dieppe.

The Go food i.e. Turkey, Chicken, Duck Grain free is the same as what we have. The packaging has recently changed and the ingredients are slightly different proportions - but it is still a great food. The author of that website mentions the new version. Check out all the hyperlinks on that site - she really has done her homework. moredooks.herobo.com/food.php?food=Go! Natural ChickenTurkey and Duck Tressie

Kitten food? I just adopted a 2 yr old ferret and she has been getting Purina Kittens first year kibble (she's plenty plump). My ferret is on EVO..so...should I try to slowly introduce EVO to the new ferret or leave her on what she is use to?

Please do a slow food switch ! Start with 3|4 purina and 1|4 EVO .. then (after 2-3 days) you can do 50-50 of both food and after 3 days, you go 3|4 EVO 1|4 Purina until its 100% EVO.
