My boyfriend and I went to the horrible Pets Unlimited the August 24 2008. There were 2 kits asleep. I picked up the little Black Roan Mitt, and my boyfriend picked up the little DEW. She was sure pretty, but Demon has a little something. He couldn't have been more than 8 weeks; he was so tiny! We think he was born around June 26 2008. I begged my boyfriend to look at him. With these big dark eyes and this cute face, you couldn't help but fall in love! We did a lot of mistakes with Demon, being parents for the very first time. One day, my boyfriend saw the Kijen Hide-A-Toy squirrel set. It was so cute, the tree looked like a small tunnel, so we bought it for Demon. Demon was in love with those toys. He destroyed the tree, then he destroyed the squirrels. I bought him replacement squirrels, but I gave him only 2 squirrels, so I'll always have a spare one.
On January 5th 2009, we went back to the pet store and fell in love with Johnny. Demon did not like Johnny at first, but after a month, he realized it was fun to have a partner in crime!
A month after, we rescued a 2 years old cat. Demon did not like Meeko at first, but then he realized it was fun to scare the cat away! lol
Demon liked tunneling with Johnny, chasing the cat, chasing his mom and dad ... He liked jumping on the bed and he was a fan of hide and seek.
Demon was a very very special ferret. He was a kisser; he liked to give his mom and dad kisses, especially when he did something wrong lol He knew we didn't want him to go behind the off-limits doors, so if he got a chance, he was running very fast so we ain't able to catch him. & He was dooking and dooking, because he found it funny to force me to play his game.
He had that special "dook dook" sound; it was melodious. He was also wagging his tail, like a dog, when he was super happy.
He had his own way of doing the dance of joy; it was very funny to watch.
He always wanted to win as he was the alpha. Lucky him, Johnny was a fan of his big brother.
Demon enjoyed walking with us, he was following pretty well for a ferret. He was great at fancy tricks too. He was simply very intelligent.
When he was in the car, everytime we stopped at a Tim Hortons drive-thru, he was always begging to be let out of his cage. So I picked him up (& his little brother too) and he was standing proudly in my arms, waiting for the staff to say: "O.M.G.! This is the cutest ferret I've ever seen"! Demon has always been a little show-off. He knew how gorgeous he was. What a clever and handsome boy he was!
There's so much great memories ...
Unfortunately, around october 24 2011, Demon started coughing. Both my boyfriend and I never heard anything like this before. I gave him some lax, but Demon was still coughing. We went to the vet on October 26th, and sadly learned it was lymphoma. We have both cried so much ; we were devastated. On Halloween day, we went to see Dr.Drmac. He did a full check-up, full blood test, and we've learned Demon was perfectly healthy - if you forget about his white blood cells. Our poor baby was so young, so healthy ! This was so hard to believe !
The tumor was in his little chest, near his lungs. We knew we might have less time with him than what we were hoping for, but we've tried anything possible to give him some quality of life.
Demon has been on medications for a month.
He was fine for a few days, a few weeks. He has stopped coughing, he was playing, tunneling with Johnny, even though he was not at his 100%. He was fine. Then the horror movie started... He started coughing again. He was crying when he was eating, he had pain when he needed to go to the litter box. He was trying to do his things darn hard ! But everything was taking energy. He has nausea, he was grinding teeth. When he was eating, the soup was always stucked in his throat, and he was crying. About 3 days ago, we started Tramadol to manage his pain. He had orange diarrhea, he was still making sounds of pain while eliminating. Even to get in his bed, hammock or his pet tote, he seemed to be in pain, by the sounds he did. He was refusing his foods, and he was getting more and more tiny. He was no longer enjoying life ..
On november 28, at 4:00pm, Demon was in his little green bed. I gave him his squirrels (his favorite toys). He slowly took his squirrel and put them in the pet tote (the small one they use as a bed). Johnny came, and we showed him his big brother. He went in the pet tote and curled up beside Demon. We saw sadness in Johnny's eyes. They both went in the Alligator Hide-N-Sleep, which I put in the pet tote. They were both looking at us, with sadness in their eyes. They knew it was time to say goodbye. At 4:15pm, Johnny has seen his big brother for the last time.
At 5:00pm, Dr.Drmac was listening to Demon's chest. He agreed to free Demon's soul from his suffering body.
At 5:46pm, our baby received the last injection. We have both cried on his little sleepy body.
& At 6:00pm, Demon has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Demon is now, the only demon that has wings. He's the only Demon that belongs to heaven.
