Today I have been thinking a lot......16 mos and 8 gone. One day I may get up the courage and energy to do them what they deserve.....they were so wonderful and deserve only the best....something for just them but today..... this is what i was thinking......
In 16 mos we have lost 6 ferrets, 1 dog and recently 1 cat.......today I was wondering who's next. We have barely made it 2 months before another.....and sometimes its only been weeks. I have 4 left, 1 ferret wicket, 1 cat Cotton and 2 dogs Jezabel & Bjorn.....who's next? Can i go a year??
Please don't feel bad...I don't want sympathy I just wanted to say what I was thinking.....it could be worse.....my house could burnt down just like the lady my friends know, I could be somewhere and lost my whole house cuz of flooding.....it could be worse.....cuz I am pretty lucky I have 4 ok 3 snuggly kids and 1 crazy ferret!!
This is what I was feeling today.....thanks for listening.....

I have also lost 6 ferrets since January of this year I think those of us with big hearts who take in surrenders, rescues, and shelter furbabies may experience more losses because these are wounded furchildren in one way or another. This makes them more vulnerable to sickness, etc. Ferrets unfortunately, are more and more short lived for a number of reasons, even if we get them as kits. These are farm raised ferrets for the most part, and do not have a good start in life at the get go. Grief tears a hole in the heart, it eventually heals, but a permanent scar is left for every loss. My heart pangs each day, every time I see something that reminds me of a particular furbaby. Sometimes its a favourite toy I come across, other times its a behaviour another ferret does, that was just like the one gone used to do I haven't had the heart to post about my most recent losses, its just been too many, in too short a time. Hugs, Tressie
