Hi Folks,
I received a call from someone who was part of the original NS Ferret Lovers group way back. She just lost her 7 year-old female ferret and is looking for another female as a companion for her 5 1/2 year old male.
FLSAC do not have any fosters at the moment, however, if any of you come across a female ferret between 4 - 6 years old, please post here or contact me at (902) 477-7119 and I'll let Wanda know.
Thank you!
Tressie

Thanks Christina!
Wanda was very specific - she only wants an older female.
However, I have replied to the free ferret ad, although I will be extremely surprized if she is still available.
Shortly after I lost Tortellini I replied to a number of ads on kijiji but they were all gone. There was one who was also free and was posted 13 hours when I replied and she had already been placed.
Thanks for the notice....

sigh.... I responded to the NL ad, cautioning that the ferrets will grieve if separated from one another. She's keeping the one who gets along with her dog and cat.... well.... what she said, stands her ground with them.... sigh.... not good all around. Sounds like the ferret defends itself effectively from torment..... whereas the one she is selling is too timid.... I told her if she were closer I'd take them both just so they wouldn't be separated.... AND goes without saying - to remove them from an unsuitable home. Tressie

Its funny how I see more and more ads saying they have ferrets for sale and they are looking for a experienced ferret owner .. but most of them are actualy looking to make a quick buck, don't know much about ferret themselves, don't care about the facts you are giving them and obviously don't care much about the ferret's welfare. ..sigh.. I don't understand most people. I whish they could at least stop giving the same sad excuses and assuming they made a mistake...

I try not to look at those kijiji ad's but I always end up on the page. I just want to take all their cute little noses home with me.
I got my first ferret this way, after trying unsuccessfully to sync up with my local ferret rescue.
My poor Mini Moose was being fed cat kibble, small dog bones and using clay kitty litter. This woman hadn't even noticed that Moosie was deaf.
If nothing else take heart that not all these ferrets will end up in need of future rescue. It's truly sad that people don't take more time to make sure ferrets are right for them.
Any time someone even muses about getting a ferret someday I tell them to go to their nearest rescue and meet some real ferrets and ferret owners.
