While my ferrets were playing tonight, I've noticed that Demon was dragging his butt on floor. I've checked and I've seen that his anus was a bit swollen. Only his annus. No diarrhea. He still eating, driking and playing normaly. Its not red and it doesn't look like a prolapsed rectum. It just seems a little bit popped out compared to Johnny. Its still pink. I've checked pictures of swollen/prolapsed anus in ferrets but Demon's butt doesn't really look like that; However, I'm worried because he was dragging his butt on floor. I was thinking about making a vet appointment I've checked back after 5 hours and his butt was back to the normal. Someone knows what's wrong with him ?

Sounds like the beginnings of a prolapse. I had a foster whose anus was doing that off and on. Dr. Benoit saw him and said he should have a purse string suture repair done to tighten it up. Unfortunately, the little guy had a host of other health issues and went into renal failure before the repair could be done. I would have the vet check it out. Prolapses can occur from having a bout of constipation and/or diarrhea. It starts out as a 'popping out' and then progresses to the inside of the colon actually becoming visible. If he had a brief tummy upset it may not progress but best to have it checked out - just in case Good for you for being such an attentive and vigilant ferrent - and good observer!!! Catching it early will prevent more problems down the road. See what the good doc has to say Tressie
