My Max will absolutely refuse to eat his kibble out of a dish. If I fill up his dish, he will play in the dish and then spill it out all over the floor of his cage and sometimes out of his cage. It's like he gets mad if it's in a dish. I have tried various dishes, ones that attach to the cage, heavy dishes so that he can't tip them over which he loves to do, etc. I have given up!! The only way he will eat is if I pour his food all over the floor in one certain area. Now my little Annie will eat out of her dish with no problems. Any suggestions as to how I can get him to eat out of a bowl again?

Nope! Some ferrets just prefer to splash their kibble all over the place... sigh.... I patiently scoop it up and put it back into the bowl when I clean cages. I have two who have always done it. Now having said that - younger ferrets are more prone to playing with their food and eventually grow out of that annoying habit - but others never seem to. Accept it as one of Max's adorable little quirks and hope he grows out of it Tressie

I hope my youngest will grow out of it! I doubt it she likes to be a trouble maker. My older two were eating fine out of the bowl before she started playing in it, now the other two take the scattered food and hide it so I have kibble in all my bedding.
Good thing they are soooo darn cute
