Flat ferret does not always mean a pouting ferret. It can mean your fuzzy is 'hiding' for a moment, wants to be picked up, or it could mean that it is in fact unresponsive and suffering a hypoglycaemic seizure (low blood sugar related to insulinoma), staring blankly at nothing. www.ferretrescue.ca/faq-e.php

I think you are the only person who knows your ferrets well so you are the first one to know when there's something wrong with them. If your ferrets go flat on floor and they never done this before, if they do not eat/drink as much as usual, if they don't really want to play, if they are not as interactive as they usualy are ect .. maybe they are sick ?
Each ferret is different so what is normal for one could be a sign of illness for another. For sure, when a ferret doesn't really want to play, sleep way too much, don't drink, eat (or drink and eat more than usual and more than he or she usualy does in winter) ect, you should keep an eye on them and watch for different signs of illness. You should check their overall body and their poop (poop can tell you alot about your ferrets health). Your vet will help you if you think there's something wrong.
Good luck.

Last month Johnny got bored. Don't forget that ferrets are smart, VERY smart pets and if you don't keep them challenged, they might become bored lol He was not playing as much as usual, he was sleeping alot. So we decided to go outside (the weather was nice and they both was on Revolution). Johnny was really happy I think because the day after he was exploring our backyard, he was back to the normal. Jumping, dooking and hiding his favorite toys. I had the same situation one day with our cat and it ends when we bought him a new toy. So my suggestions are ; try to rearrange Rickey's cage. Bought her a new toy or put her harness on and take her for a nicely walk. If nothing happens after, she might be sick. Try to find something new to do with your furkids and keep an eye on Rickey, just in case. Good luck

Did the vet check Rickey's blood glucose? It should be done 2-4 hours after a meal. The vet will have a glucometer which gives you an immediate result. What you are seeing could be early insulinoma. Ferrets with insulinoma still appear to be healthy in the early stages. Hind leg weakness shows up when the blood glucose becomes quite low. How old is Rickey? Ferrets do slow down as they age and also as winter approaches. Hope all goes well for Rickey.

Rickey is 3 years old. I changed her cage around i made her level higher and put it on the other side.. i also moved her hammock , other beds, food , and littler.. she seamed to hype up a little.. i also took her for a run in the big hall way which seamed to make her run much faster and she even done the war dance with baby.. when it stops raining im gonna try a short walk outside..
