Blackheads or something else ?

Johnny got rid of his blackheads but since a few days, they came back & now Demon has blackheads aswell ? Demon's coat is perfect, no fur missing. Johnny, well .. only a little bit of fur is missing at the very end of his tail (tail tip)

I wonder if its only blackheads or if its something else ?
This is what Johnny's tail looks like when he has the "bottle brush tail".


There's no changes on litter this time (still using Yesterday's News unscented), same foods as usual [EVO ferret food and Orijen kitten food, a bit of chicken baby food (chicken and broth only) as treat, bit of ferretone sometimes, etc]. No big changes. Well .. I am going back to university, so they are now playing after 4:00pm instead of the mornings, but I don't think its a source of stress as long as they have enough time to play, right ?

Another thing; our cat is usualy on Orijen kitten/cat food but we got a bag of EVO kitten/cat food lately and my ferrets are sometimes picking in the cat's food dish when they are outside their room. I don't think EVO cat food should upset them as its basicaly the same ingredients as EVO ferret food ?

I'm confused once again ..
If anyone knows what these blackheads might be, please let me know ! Thanks !

Ferrets are prone to blackheads just like humans, although a ferret's usually show up on his tail. Often, hair loss and a reddish-brown, waxy film come with blackheads, which are caused by dirt and oil clogging their fuzzy pores. Although blackheads aren't too attractive, they're nothing to worry about. If you want to treat them, simply wash your fuzzy's tail every couple days (the tail only) with a shampoo that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid (which you can get from your vet). Gently scrub the tail with a washcloth and let the suds sit for a minute or two before rinsing.

(Choose only shampoos that are ferret-safe. If you are unsure about a shampoo, stick with the stuff that's made for cats, kittens, or ferrets. A tearless human baby shampoo also works well on ferrets.)

If your ferret is unfortunate enough to have fleas, besure to read Chapter 14 before picking a shampoo and bathing him.

That's what I was reading in my Ferret for Dummies book and Ferrets by Vikcie Mckimmey lol
I find its so weird that both of them seem to have blackheads ? lol

it seems like a seasonal thing. fred and ginny both got blackheads last fall when they shed their coats. their fur came back in again and everything was fine.

My little dew Faye has blackheads also. her hair has mostly grown back but theres a bit of a yellow film on it. tis the season XD

Hi Tayla,

Johnny and Demon want to let you know that they were having fun in our backyard today
They don't really like the shampoo they find it cold but they think its better than a whole bath

We hope the shampoo its going to help them get rid of these ugly little blackheads pretty soon
