Thank you Tressie,
This information is very helpful. We have been in a heat wave here in Nashua,NH with 90+ temps that reached 100 yesterday!

My air conditioner has been running non stop since we got home yesterday evening. We have a portable one since we have crank out windows and a regular window one just doesn't work. The biggest problem that I have is that the water reservoir is very small and we have to dump out the water every 2 hours or it will stop. We set the alarm every 2 hours last night and my husband and I took turns getting up to empty it. I HATE the humidity!!

Hi Mindy, I had the same problem with my Danby portable last year so I attached a hose to the reservoir and it now empties out the window. You can check the specs to see if your A/C has this feature. The problem was that the hose has to be hanging below the A/C in order for it to empty. I think your window is above your A/C and this wouldn't work unless Shawn can think of a way to put the A/C up high. And those suckers are super heavy! Even with mine I had to buy a heavy duty metal cart to lift the A/C up. This year I bought a more expensive model from Costco that is dripless and that is the one I have in the ferret room while the other one is in the living room. It was worth the extra expense, it is much quieter than the Danby and no bucket to empty or need to run a hose out the window! snipsly.com/2010/06/01/delonghi-pac-a120e-12000-btu-eco-friendly-portable-air-conditioner-review/Both have been running 24/7. That is a great idea Tressie!! I will see if we can come up with a way to get the air conditioner up high so we can drain the water out the window. I was trying to think of a way we could get the hose out to the bathroom next door but I wasn't wanting to put a hole in the wall.
Last night we were lucky, the humidity dropped off some so we were able to sleep for 3 hours at a time instead of 2. It is supposed to be HOT tomorrow so I know I will be emptying it a lot.
