Ender heaved a great sigh and gently slipped into the waiting angel’s arms. He glanced back lovingly at the humans he had shared his life with as the angel sped away with her newest passenger.
Ender had felt his heart slowly giving out in the early morning hours, but with all his strength he kept it going until his beloved Dad would be awake to hold him one last time.
Ender thought of the wonderful life he had led. His Dad had picked him out when he was a wee cotton ball, eyes barely opened. Bidding his mother and sibs farewell he left with the human with the big heart and soft eyes.
Dad and Ender had shared many adventures and travelled far during his lifetime. And then there was a Mom added to their little family and a woofy brother.
And now 7 years later he bid the man with the big heart and soft eyes a final farewell as he left with the angel.
The little black-nosed sprite with pink wings flew at their side. Tiramisu told Ender all about the Rainbow Bridge with the Ferretone blossoms, magic viewing pond to see loved ones back on earth and all about the wonders that awaited him there. She described to him Chester, the stately Bridge Greeter who welcomed all new arrivals.
But the most marvelous thing she told him about was that he would receive his very own wings. The Wing Master was forging them at this very moment.
Tiramisu and her friend MeLodie, had gathered the deep blue from the ocean and ice crystals from the icebergs near Ender’s earthly home. They had collected stardust from the night sky and crystal tears from Ender’s Mom and Dad’s cheeks. They brought all these things to the Wing Master who wove them into the wings that would adorn Ender for eternity.
Ender trembled with anticipation as Tiramisu, now resting alongside him, in the angel’s arms described his wings to him.
A tiny speck appeared in the distance and Tiramisu dooked, white tail bristling with excitement.
“We be amost der,” she turned to Ender.
Ender’s heart quickened as he peaked over the angel’s arms to the bridge below. He saw a large magnificent silver champagne ferret standing on the bridge below them. He knew it must be the Bridge Greeter, Chester.
Ender squeezed his eyes shut for a moment and sent a ray of love beaming towards earth. The man stirred, feeling the warmth penetrate his big heart, and knew Ender was about to embark on a new adventure.
