Hi Ashley!
Warmest Congratulations!!
Glad to know you can get the Wysong because I did get a reply directly from Wysong and don't know if it means they will no longer be shipping to Canada PERIOD, or will still ship to retail outlets.
Reply was:
Dear Tressie,
We're sorry to report that after many months of effort last year making direct shipment to Canada a reality, we can no longer ship product direct to Canadian customers. On June 30, 2009 Canada enacted a set of onerous pet food import regulations that make direct shipment to Canadian customers nearly impossible.
Sincerely,
Rich V.

it is definitely not the best food out there.
you want to look for a food that is grain free and high in protein. i would not go less than 40-45% protein.
i am currently feeding my ferrets a mixture of cat foods. i am feeding go! natural chicken, turkey, and duck (50% protein and grain free) and orijen cat and kitten formula (42% protein and grain free). i also feed evo cat and kitten formula (50% protein and grain free) but i am in the process of figuring out if i can get it shipped to me.

here are the ingredients:
i am sure that your ferret will survive on this food but he will have a lot more poops and they will most likely be much stinkier than they would on another food.
i have bolded the ingredients that i don't like. corn! ferrets don't eat corn. they are obligate carnivores, meaning they need meat to survive. they cannot digest grains. molasses is a sweetener and salt is not good for ferrets (or cats or dogs or even people for that matter!). BHA is a preservative that is possibly linked to cancer. i am sure that there are other ingredients in there that someone else who is more knowledgeable than me can tell you about.
if you are feeding marshalls now, don't worry. it is very pricey and i am sure that you can find a better food that is in the same price range. just switch slowly, 1/4 new food and 3/4 old food for a week, 1/2 and 1/2 for a week, and then 3/4 new food and 1/4 old food for a week. if you find that your ferret is not taking to the new food right away you can switch even slower. for my guy, fred, who is a real picky pants i usually start with just a few kibbles of the new food for the first few days and work up from there.

Kits generally need higher protein/fat food because they are growing so quickly and their bodies need more of everything. However, a high quality food like Innova EVO Ferret provides everything a growing kit needs. Innova has 50% protein.
Seniors at the other end of life are more prone to kidney failure as they age, so the recommendation is to give them a lower protein food. Totally Ferret for older Ferrets is a good choice. But there are others that are lower protein as well. But don't go below 30% protein, because they still need far more protein than cats or dogs.
And many seniors have insulinoma so a food that has no carbohydrates is preferred and some of these foods have higher protein levels. Often ferrets with insulinoma prefer a nutritious duk soup to kibble, perhaps because its absorbed quicker and makes them feel better.
So its a judgement call as they age and working with your veterinarian to determine what the best choice of food combination is, is the way to go.

That food is good but their grain free food is MUCH better. The is Go! Natural Chicken Turkey and Duck grain free food. It is 50% protein. The food you have linked is only 32% protein. That is not enough for a ferret. This is the one I was talking about www.patchespetsupply.com/product/504-go-natural-cat-grain-free-1-lb/This is the food I feed my ferrets. They are super soft and shiny and they have lots of energy.

I also feed my ferrets the go! grain free chicken, turkey and duck formula that Mindy uses, along with the Evo Ferret food. They are both excellent foods!

Yes, but that food that I linked is better than the ferret food that they sell at that store. I buy the 10 lb bags for $40 and they last me about 1 1/2 months for my 2.

The Go! Chicken with Fruits and Vegetables has dried bits of fruits and vegetables in it, which is NOT GOOD for ferrets.
The Go! Natural Chicken Turkey and Duck grain free food is made by the same company but is a different food.
