Somebody moved to Ontario and just left it there!!! Now someone else is trying to find it a home and it comes with cages and accessories. I fear that any regular Joe who knows nothing about ferrets will call up and adopt it since it is free and the person who posted the ad is not a fan of ferrets so I doubt she would have any knowledge to pass on to whoever adopts it and there for they will be ill informed and may even feed it rabbit food for all we know since most people believe they are rodents..I would love to take it myself but with hubby getting a dog and already having enough animals and moving in a few weeks now is not a good time for me to adopt it. I am very fearful for where ever this ferret will end up because in most cases when someone is willing to pay a few hundred bucks for one they at least do a little research..but when it is free like that people will compulsively make the decision to get it without giving it much thought. I just wanted to post this in case someone here would be interested in taking in this poor little guy because I strongly believe that you are all great and knowledgeable ferrets mom's..or dad's. I just don't want to see this poor little guy get into the wrong hands here is the ad.. saintjohn.kijiji.ca/c-pets-other-pets-for-sale-Free-Ferret-very-gentle-W0QQAdIdZ151435419

Woah ! Its the very first time I've seen a ferret to give away. I'm not sure if I should adopt the poor baby .. I already have two ferrets myself & other pets .. Poor ferret Yeah..Im in the same situation, I have 3 ferrets already plus 4 other animals and a puppy on the way so there is no way I could either , I feel so badly for the poor little guy and I don't understand why its previous owner would just leave him there..Thank god that person who posted the ad is at least trying to find him a home..I just fear what kind of home he may end up in because too many people will respond to that ad simply because he is free..and also since he is 6 years old there is probably a fair chance that he could have adrenal, insuloma or anything else that commonly effects older ferrets and potential adopters may not even be aware of this and not think to get him checked out. I wonder if this women would be interested in surrendering it..atleast then it would end up in a proper home and not with someone who knows nothing about it and only adopts it because they view it as a conversation piece or simply because they are "cool"

I sent an email to that person asking if she was interested of surrending this poor ferret to the FLSAC, so they will be in charge of finding a real good home. Here's the reply ;D :
"That is a great idea as my friend has no idea if the previous owners took any type of care of the ferret. We do not know much about it, just that it is quiet and likes people. Do you have a number or website that we could have? Thanks"
So I gave all the info of FLSAC ;D Hope they will contact !

I emailed the sender and told her that I would call her tomorrow, advising her that we will take in this ferret. He/she is 6 years old and no doubt has health issues. Thanks for posting about this ferret! I sure hope no one has taken her/him unless they are very experienced with ferrets. A ferret that old will have one of the Big 3 illnesses. Sigh.... it is heartbreaking that someone abandoned a ferret near the end of its life..... sad Poor little thing Tressie

I called this morning and was told that they had already given away the ferret yesterday. According to the man I spoke with it was someone who already had ferrets, so hopefully it will receive the veterinary care it needs. I left him my number to pass to them.
Thanks everyone!
