Dr. Suzette Dibblee is a vet at Fairview. She did her residency in exotics but has not seen them in her clinical practice. However, she has agreed to take over Dr. Benoit's clinical practice. She spent 2 weeks with him getting oriented to exotics. She also has been given all his protocols and access to all the professional papers and text books I gave Dr. Benoit over the years.
Dr. Dibblee saw three of mine last week on Dr. Benoit's last day, and I was impressed that she had obviously researched ferrets from her comments. I was also impressed with the way she examined them and picked up on little things.
I checked this morning and confirmed that she will be doing surgeries on ferrets as required, as well as, giving Lupron and Deslorelin implants. Now the Deslorelin is back-ordered and won't be coming in before January sometime.
While Dr. Dibblee does not have the years and level of experience Dr. Benoit had, I am confident that she will catch up quickly given her interest and openess in learning about them. Plus she has the benefit of Jamie's experience and expertise.
I think she will be an excellent ferret vet!

Tressie, I am so happy for you!! and all the other ferret owners that have lost Dr.Benoit. She sounds amazing and like every ferret specialist, she has to start somewhere I really wish there would be more vets that would be involved in ferret care, It is almost shocking how little many vets know of them.
