this morning misha was fine. tonight i came home from work and misha cant move. He has urinated on himself and had a tiny bit of feces on his end.
His back legs dont move and i tried gently moving his front legs and they feel stiff almost like theid atrophied. i cant extend them.
his eyes are clear and hes aware and doesent seem in pain but i am freaking out. I called the vet and he says its 110$ if i bring him in before midnight and 150 after midnight but i dont have a car and no one is willing to drive me. Im trying to find a drive thats willing to bring us to the clinic at 7:30 am but cant find anyone either. I just cant understand what would have happenned. it doesent look like hes hurt at all. i felt him all over. no tumors, spine perfectly aligned, he eats perfectly well. If anyone has any idea what i could be facing please let me know. Fear of the unknown is making me sick. Im trying not to cry or freak out because its not going to make any of this better. I dont think ill be sleeping, im going to stay up with him untill i can get him to the vet. and know whats going on....

Went to the vet, he gave him shot of anti-inflamitory. xrays shows one of his disks close to another but not fully touching so he might have fallen and hurt himself. the vet says most likely because hed young he will heal but only time will tell.

Hi, I does sound like a spinal injury. If Misha's front legs are paralized as well as his hind legs, the injury must be in the cervical (neck) area. Cervical spine injuries are serious. Is Misha moving around? Did the vet immobilize Misha's neck and spine? We will pray for Misha's speedy recovery. Please keep us posted. I would keep him as calm and quiet as possible, you may need to hand feed him and watch for any swelling on his spine. Good luck, FLSAC Home Page / HEALTHFor more detailed information on how to deal with a ferret emergency go to: www.weaselwords.com/ferret-articles/emergency-ferret-medicine/John

Misha wasnt fully paralised just not using his legs cause it hurt(The vet pinched his feet and he would pull them away)
He is already showing big signs of recovery. I woke up this morning and he was fully walking around(Although tenderly like someone who just spent the whole day before hand working out). His appetite was back as well, he ate a whole bowl of duck soup(It’s a mix of chicken, wet high quality cat food, mashed up high quality ferret kibble and a table spoon of pumpkin puree to help combat hairballs) it’s a food that’s used for when your ferret is too sick to eat solid food. after that I gave him a bit of solids and he gingerly ate a bit of it but he's still having a bit of trouble eating it. I'm thankful I got him used to duck soup the day he came home because if I didn’t it would have been VERY hard to get him to eat anything.
I'm hoping he makes a full recovery but not breathing in a sigh of relief just yet. he's a baby and can easily hurt himself again if I let him do things he would like to do. Like someone who broke a leg and when it starts to heal says, oh I'm fine I can walk on it then does even more damage. Young ferrets are very rambunctious, so its our job to make sure he has nothing in there that can hurt him(No hammocks, no ramps etc that he can fall out of. Dr Dermack says that if he heals by a month we will be able to give them back. He is going to be seeing him again in 2 weeks time.

thank you. I hope he gets back to his old self soon. Hes already very active but you can see something is bothering him.
I have my ferret nation devided into two level and Nika and Faye are sharing the bottom and Misha has the top so i can more easilly keep an eye on him(I have a bad back so the bottom is a bit harder for me to keep an eye on and clean but i do it twice a day anyways. I just want to be able to keep Mishas cage spotless. even if i have to scoop his litter anytime he goes.

Update. came home tonight and Misha is feeling ALOT better. hes jumping out of his litter box and lifting himself up against the bars to get our attention like he usually did. I keep telling him to take it easy but you know how children are XD. Im hoping this means he makes a full recovery.

Sorry to hear about Misha's accident. The steroids will help but his recovery should proceed with extreme caution until he is out of the woods.
Keep him from climbing and keep him confined until he has healed from the injury. I know its challenging to keep a ferret confined but at this stage it is critical or he could end up as a paraplegic.
I am glad to hear that Dr. Drmac is his vet. I am confident that he would be receiving excellent vet care.

Tressie we havent been taking out of his cage or picking him up. only thing is he has tried to climb the bars of his cage once. but so far i havent seen him repeating this. Hes doing really well and doesent seem in pain. Hopefully he will make a full recovery.

Im sad to announce Misha passed away in october. I've been trying not to think about it really, he was making a great recovery, and was just due to go for a checkup when he started showing signs again of being in pain and died curled up in his sleep the next day. I came home to find him curcled up in his blankets with his eyes closed in sleep.
